Mono Writer Terms of Service
Effective date: June 30, 2026
Article 1 (Purpose)
These Terms set out the rights, obligations, responsibilities, and other necessary matters between We've Solutions, Inc. (the "Company") and users in connection with the use of the writing application "Mono Writer" (the "Service") provided by the Company.
Article 2 (Definitions)
The terms used in these Terms are defined as follows.
- "Service" means the Mono Writer application (desktop and mobile) provided by the Company and all services incidental thereto.
- "User" means anyone who uses the Service provided by the Company under these Terms.
- "Content" means all creative works — writing, documents, and the like — that a user creates and saves using the Service.
- "Focus Lock" means the feature by which a user sets a goal (time or word count) and switches the Service to a locked state, pinning the screen to writing until the goal is reached and restricting certain system shortcuts and switching.
- "Cloud Sync" means the feature that stores a user's content in the user's own cloud (Apple iCloud Drive on Apple devices) and syncs it across multiple devices.
Article 3 (Effect and Amendment of Terms)
- These Terms take effect when a user installs and uses the Service.
- The Company may amend these Terms to the extent that it does not violate applicable laws such as the Act on the Regulation of Terms and Conditions, the Content Industry Promotion Act, and the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce.
- When the Company amends the Terms, it gives notice via in-app notice or app update from 7 days before the effective date until the day before. However, changes that are unfavorable or material to users are announced from 30 days before the effective date.
- If a user does not agree to the amended Terms, they may stop using the Service and delete the app. Continuing to use the Service after the effective date of the amended Terms is deemed acceptance of them.
Article 4 (Provision of the Service)
- The Company provides the following services.
- Focus-writing sessions based on a goal (time / word count)
- Focus Lock — strength varies by platform (hard lock on macOS; soft lock on iPhone, iPad, Android)
- Distraction-free fullscreen writing and font/size/color customization
- Content storage and sync through the user's own cloud (iCloud Drive on Apple devices)
- Trash (soft delete) and .txt export
- Any other services the Company additionally develops and provides to users
- No account required — the Service can be used without a separate member account operated by the Company. The Company does not require login or sign-up, and sync across Apple devices uses the Apple iCloud account signed in on the user's device.
- Downloads and purchases of the Service are made through each platform's store (currently the Apple App Store), and pricing and payment follow that store's policy and displayed price. Windows support and cross-platform sync are in preparation; their availability and terms will be announced separately.
- The Company may change part or all of the Service to improve quality, and will give prior notice where a change materially affects users.
Article 5 (Special Provisions on the Focus Lock) ★
- The Focus Lock is a feature that the user sets a goal for and voluntarily activates; when active, it helps the user concentrate on writing by hiding the menu bar & Dock, blocking certain system shortcuts, and using a borderless fullscreen.
- The lock releases automatically when the user reaches the goal (time or word count) they set.
- In every case, an OS-level force shutdown (power/system shutdown, etc.) is always available, so the user never loses ultimate control of the device. The Focus Lock operates within the operating system's security and accessibility policies and never permanently locks the device itself or holds data hostage.
- The strength of the Focus Lock varies by platform. On macOS it provides a hard lock (forced focus) by hiding the menu bar & Dock, blocking certain system shortcuts, and using a borderless fullscreen. On iPhone, iPad, and Android, operating-system policy does not allow forcibly blocking system switching, so it is provided as a soft lock that helps keep you on the writing screen, together with goal sessions (time/word count) and reading, editing, and sync. Availability and scope on Windows are in preparation and will be determined within each operating system's policy.
- Users must not use the Focus Lock in situations requiring attention, such as while driving or walking, and the Company is not responsible for consequences arising from using the feature in inappropriate environments.
Article 6 (Rights and Responsibility for Content)
- All rights to and responsibility for content a user creates using the Service belong to the user. The Company does not claim ownership of a user's content.
- Content is stored in the local storage of the user's device and in the user's own cloud, and is not transmitted to or stored on Company servers. Accordingly, the Company does not view, collect, or use the contents of a user's content.
- Users must not create or use content that infringes others' rights, such as intellectual property rights, or violates applicable laws; any disputes and liability arising therefrom are borne by the user.
Article 7 (Content Preservation and Loss Prevention)
- With "you never lose what you wrote" as its design principle, the Company mirrors content as files in the app data directory separately from local storage, and is designed so that deletion goes through a Trash (soft delete). Trash items are automatically emptied after 30 days.
- If the same content is edited on multiple devices during cloud sync and a conflict occurs, the Company arbitrates based on the revision number (rev) while preserving the conflicting copy so that written content is never lost in any case.
- However, the Company is not responsible for content loss due to causes beyond its control, such as failure/loss/reset of the user's device, deletion by the user, cloud account/storage issues, or failures of the operating system or cloud infrastructure. Users are encouraged to separately back up important content, for example via .txt export.
Article 8 (Suspension of the Service)
- The Company may temporarily suspend provision of the Service in the following cases.
- When operationally necessary, such as system inspection, maintenance, or replacement
- When it is difficult to provide the Service due to failures or policy changes of external infrastructure such as clouds or stores
- When force-majeure events occur, such as natural disaster, war, power outage, or hacking
- Where the Service is suspended for the reasons in paragraph 1, the Company gives prior notice to the extent possible. However, where there is an unavoidable reason that prevents prior notice, it may give notice afterward.
Article 9 (User Obligations)
- Users must not engage in the following acts.
- Acts that interfere with the normal operation of the Service
- Attempting to decompile, reverse-engineer, disassemble, or otherwise extract the source code of the Service
- Copying, distributing, reselling, or creating derivative works of the Service without the Company's prior written consent
- Bypassing or tampering with the authentication/signature information used in the Service
- Other acts that violate applicable laws
- If a user violates the obligations in this Article, the Company may restrict use of the Service and may claim damages arising therefrom.
Article 10 (Company Disclaimer)
- The Company is not responsible where it cannot provide the Service due to the following causes.
- Force-majeure events such as natural disaster, war, riot, terrorism, or government action
- Service disruptions attributable to the user
- Failures or policy changes of external infrastructure such as clouds or app stores
- Disruptions due to the user's device environment (insufficient storage, OS compatibility, etc.)
- Other causes beyond the Company's reasonable control
- Where the Company bears liability for damages to a user, the scope of liability is limited to ordinary and direct damages, and the Company is not liable for special, indirect, incidental damages or lost profits.
Article 11 (Intellectual Property)
- Intellectual property rights in all content used in the Service — design, text, graphics, logos, icons, software code, etc. (excluding content created by users) — belong to the Company or its legitimate rights holders.
- Rights to content a user creates using the Service belong to the user in accordance with Article 6.
Article 12 (Protection of Personal Information)
The Company strives to protect users' personal information, and matters concerning the processing and protection of personal information are set out in a separate Privacy Policy. Mono Writer creates no member account, does not store users' content on Company servers, and uses no tracking tools such as ad identifiers or analytics SDKs.
Article 13 (Dispute Resolution and Governing Law)
- Disputes arising between the Company and a user are, in principle, resolved through consultation between the parties.
- If not resolved through consultation, users may apply for mediation to bodies such as the Content Dispute Mediation Committee under the Content Industry Promotion Act or the Consumer Dispute Mediation Committee under the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce.
- The interpretation of these Terms and disputes between the Company and users are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and lawsuits are filed with the competent court under the Civil Procedure Act.
Addendum
- These Terms take effect on June 30, 2026.
- These Terms also apply to users who used the Service before the effective date, and changes are announced via notice 7 days before the effective date.
