• What is Mono Writer?

  Mono Writer is a focus-writing app that makes you finish. Set a goal (time or word count) and lock the screen, and there's no way out until you hit it — blocking distractions so you focus only on writing. Its core is the hard lock (forced focus), a distraction-free fullscreen, font/color customization, and cloud storage.

• Isn't it dangerous if I can't get out during a lock?

  The lock releases automatically once you reach the goal (time or word count) you set yourself. And in every case, an OS-level force shutdown (power/system shutdown) is always available, so you never lose ultimate control of your device. The focus lock never permanently locks the device or holds your data hostage.

• Which devices can I use it on?

  Lock strength varies by platform. On macOS you get a hard lock that forces focus by hiding the menu bar & Dock, blocking shortcuts, and going fullscreen. On iPhone, iPad, and Android, operating-system policy doesn't allow forcibly blocking system switching, so you get a soft lock that keeps you on the writing screen, plus goal sessions (time/word count) and reading, editing, and cloud sync. Windows is in preparation.

• Where is my writing stored, and could I lose it?

  Your writing is stored locally on your device and in your own cloud (iCloud Drive on Apple devices); it is not stored on our servers. Guided by our first principle — "you never lose what you wrote" — every document is mirrored to a file so it's restored on launch even if data is wiped, and deletions go through a Trash that auto-empties after 30 days. You can also back up important writing via .txt export.

• Do I need an account? How much does it cost?

  No sign-up or login required. There's no account, subscription, or tracking, and sync across Apple devices uses your device's iCloud account directly. The app starts free, with core features and iCloud sync across Apple devices included for free. A paid plan (cross-platform sync with Windows, Android, and others) is in preparation, and payments/refunds are handled through each platform's store.
